Ribbon Quilt
Image I was lucky enough to win this quilt at the Baton Rouge Cat Show raffle two years ago. Still can't believe it! Vaughn Barber donated it to the raffle. He had always been generous with our raffle and judging, as he chartered the club 28 years ago and still is one of our board members! The quilt is about 6 ft x 4 1/2 ft wide and it is actually two sets of flat ribbons sewn together...double sided. Each ribbon is machine zigzagged stitched in strips. The outer edges are crocheted with blue yarn and the blue yarn is used to tack the two sides together periodically. It has a satiny feel, don't know if it is because it is so old, or because they used different ribbon fabric back then! The oldest ribbon we could find was 1953! And the ribbons seem to be mainly from the Houston area. We found a label in the corner that says Mona-Made. Anybody have any ideas about that? It will be on display at the Baton Rouge Cat Show if you want to see it "up close and personal"! Anyone needing more details, feel free to ask.
